Test method
As a type of collision to cause injury to occupants in vehicles,
in the extent of injury the side collision is second to the
frontal collision. Here a truck imitating a vehicle (its frontal
collision portion is provided with an impact absorbing portion
imitating the front of the vehicle) hit the test vehicle standing
still with the dummy placed in the driver's seat at a speed
of 55km/h, 10% higher than that for the collision test of the
Safety Standards (increase of 21% in kinetic energy), and the
degree of impact to the dummy's head, chest, abdomen, and waist
was measured and the vehicle's damage and deformation were investigated.
The results of the impact tests are evaluated in 5 ranks, A
through E, depending on whether the degree of impact against
4 portions, the head, chest, abdomen, and waist, meets the reference
value of each injury, and
is attached to data especially good among rank A.
